Professor Matt Jones

I am a cognitive neuroscientist using (mainly) electrophysiology in rodents and people to untangle:

  • The nature and functions of interactions between hippocampus, neocortex, thalamus and striatum during learning and sleeping

  • The utility of sleep neurophysiology in developing mechanistic biomarkers in psychiatry

  • The impacts of psychoactive drugs on sleep-dependent cognition

I recently had the pleasure of working with Wellcome’s Mental Health Team to co-author this report on sleep, circadian rhythms and mental health.
