Summary
An interdisciplinary research team is being created to address sleep and circadian rhythm disorders with a particular focus on developing, testing and delivering scalable, cost-effective sleep and circadian interventions.
New fully funded multicentre:
  • randomised controlled trial programmes of sleep restriction therapy targeting insomnia and depression
  • light therapeutics for sleep and circadian dysregulation
  • interventions for shift work sleep disorder will be supported.
The Biomedical Research Centres (BRC) infrastructure will also support capacity building and pump priming funds will be used to generate pilot data on novel behavioural therapeutics, chrono-nutrition, brain stimulation and slow wave sleep enhancement.
